Not all those who wander are lost...
I have always had a hard time labeling what exactly it is that drives me. My quest to find a role, and country, that I love has led me on a lengthy journey across the globe. Blessed with a family who encouraged the importance of traveling, I started globe-hopping at a young age. I eventually accepted a position teaching in Japan right after I graduated York University with a Specialized Honours BA in psychology. Japan taught me two things. First, that I loved to teach and work with children. Second, that I wanted a job to challenge me, test my limits, and spur my professional growth. Returning to Canada, I earned a BEd from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Armed with a new degree, I took a teaching job in Hong Kong working at an international school.
Though I had managed to find a position I loved, part of me wasn't ready to settle into my life across the globe. I hadn't found a place to stop wandering yet. Teaching was wonderful but I wanted to keep learning myself. Shifting careers, I once again returned to school to earn a Master of Business Administration from the Schulich School of Business. Within the business world I have finally found a way to combine my passions. I can apply many of my teacher skills such as facilitating, managing, planning and leading, in a sector that will continue to challenge me and offer endless potential for future growth. Since my graduation, I have only added to my professional set of skills working for organizations such as MHS, the McQuaig Institute, and CanadaHelps. By combining both the creative and analytical parts of my experience, Iām able to weave stories and build campaigns that leave a lasting impression while achieving tangible goals.
